Frequently Asked Questions

Will I be able to borrow drum sticks during the lesson?

Yes, we can provide sticks for you no problem, but if you are used to a particular stick size and weight feel free to bring your own. We also stock a huge range here at the Drumshop were you will be able to find the sticks that suit you.

Do you teach children?

Absolutely, We have taught many young people over the years. We tend to find children over the age of 10 can manage the size of our electric drum kit, while younger children sometimes struggle to reach the full kit. If you have children under 10 that would like to learn don't hesitate to get in contact and will talk about it more.

Where do lessons take place?

We teach all of our drum lessons at Drumstars, Unit 11 Industrial Road, Hertburn, Washington, NE37 2SF. The studio is the perfect place to learn drums, with a calm, relaxed atmosphere and great drumming equipment.

Do you teach drums online?

What will I do upon leaving a lesson?

Don't worry, we will provide plenty of material to support you in between lessons. We will write simple exercises in recordings or drum notation and give them to you at the end of each lesson where applicable. As a student, you will not be given anything that is outside your ability and understanding.

What time slots will I be given?

All lessons are pre-booked at your convenience. We ask you to keep a record of these lessons and times as it is your responsibility to ensure you turn up.

How often should I have lessons?

The more lessons undertake, the better your drumming will become. Students that really practice hard can become confident drummers within a matter of months. Weekly one hour lessons work the best, with fortnightly hourly lessons also being a great way to learn.

Am I too old/young to learn the drums?

You can never be too old or young to play the drums. It is a great skill to have and will be very rewarding whether you want to consider it as a serious vocation/career, or you just want to be able to relieve some stress at the weekend or play along to your favourite song. If you have any other specific questions, feel free to contact us through our contact form, email or phone number, and we will be happy to have a chat with you.

What happens if I miss a lesson?

That is not a problem at all, simply contact us 48 hours before our lesson and we will rearrange it. Drumstars does operate a 48-hour cancellation policy, whereby if you cancel your lesson within two days of your lesson slot you will be charged the full price of the lesson.
